Hi and a big warm welcome from Chester Operatic Society.

The Society celebrated it's 90th anniversary in 2012 and continues to go from strength to strength, attracting members across all age ranges and from the wider local community.

The Society performs a mix of stage shows, both classical opera and stage musical, together with a lively concert programme.

A Bit About Us

The Society has developed an extensive concert programme with a versatile and wide-ranging repertoire. This ranges from grand opera to modern musical theatre, from cinema to popular songs and many places in between.

Our members meet most Thursday evenings at St Andrews United Reformed Church Hall in Handbridge, Chester, between 7.30pm and 10.00pm.

As a Society we generally endeavour to perform 1 full stage show and 2 concerts each year. With a varying content and theme.  Our Christmas concerts have become a popular and successful event within the local community.

At times we are asked to perform for charitable or special events and have in the past performed concerts at the nearby Duke of Westminster's Estate, Eaton Hall.

Join Us

The best way to find about Chester Operatic Society is to be part of the audience for one of our stage shows or for one of our concert performances.

If you’d like to be part of Chester Operatic Society and to take part you can either contact us before hand or better still why not just pop along to one of our rehearsals at the St Andrews United Reformed Church, Handbridge, Chester where you can speak to our musical director. You can have a coffee with us in the rehearsal interval, and chat to other members of the Society. We have the reputation of being both friendly and inclusive.

For the reassurance and safety of our younger members we have in place an active child protection policy.

Naturally it helps if you can act, sing and dance a little, but, if you can’t we’ll do our best to help teach you!

If you prefer not to perform, then join other non-acting members who help to run the Society and assist back stage or front of house at one of our events.  We are always actively seeking this sort of membership as well as the performing kind!

Just click the 'Contact Us' link or go to our Contacts page to get in touch and find out more.

Please see the map to the left for our rehearsal location and to get directions if required.
